Entries must be submitted through MyRSC. Therefore by entering the competition, entrants agree to sign up for a free MyRSC account and to be bound by the MyRSC Terms and Conditions regarding use of the site which are located at: http://my.rsc.org/terms. Shortlisting of entries will be done by a team of RSC staff who regularly contribute news articles to Chemistry World. The team will be looking for clarity of communication, timeliness of the topic and, in the multimedia category, creativity of approach. Shortlisted entries will be notified by MyRSC on or before 14/09/2012. Shortlisted entries will be viewable online at ChemCareers 2012 on MyRSC from 8th – 10th October 2012. Shortlisted entries will be judged by a panel of judges drawn from science communication and research backgrounds and shortlisted entrants will be invited to an event at The Chemistry Centre in London on 10th October 2012 (“Evening Reception”). The winners will be announced at the Evening Reception and any shortlisted entrants who are unable to attend will be notified via MyRSC the following day. The names of the winners will then be available to view at http://my.rsc.org/chemcareers until 31/01/2013. One winning entry and one runner-up from each Category will be chosen; the winning entries will be published in Chemistry World. Winning entrants will also receive a £300 cash prize with a £100 cash prize awarded to each runner-up. Prizes and an Evening Reception are being sponsored by Procter and Gamble. Please note that no travel expenses will be paid and that all shortlisted entrants will be required to make their own travel arrangements to the Evening Reception and pay for their own travel costs. Overnight accommodation will be paid for by the RSC only for those having to travel for over 2.5 hours each way. In the event that shortlisted entrants located in countries outside the United Kingdom choose not to travel to the UK to attend the Evening Reception, the RSC will endeavour to facilitate their participation remotely. By submitting an entry, an entrant thereby gives permission to the RSC to publish the content of the entry on the MyRSC platform and in Chemistry World both online and in print. By entering this competition, entrants confirm that their entry is original, solely the work of the entrant, is not published anywhere else in any format and that no third party rights including copyright are being infringed. Employees of the RSC are not eligible to enter. Use of a false name or email address will result in disqualification. The judges’ decision is final.
